Marilynn is a child of God, mother, chaplain, community activist and founder of
the women’s ministry group “The Gathering of the Queens” for Women in the
community of Anderson, Indiana and beyond. The non-profit organization, host an
initiative “The 765 Food Desert Project,” a weekly drive through mobile market in
Anderson, Indiana. The group also host a “Queens Pantry,” at 2222 W. 12 St.
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 12-4 and by appointment. An Elder in the
African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, and a chaplain at St. Vincent Regional
Hospital, Anderson .
The Gathering of the Queens Inc./The 765 Food Desert Project is the 2021 winner
of the Rekindle Anderson Project. Marilynn has been honored as the 2021 Herald
Bulletin Person of the Year. Marilynn is the mother of Perris A.D. Hobbs, a
graduate of Alabama A & M University, Huntsville Alabama and currently a
graduate student.
Marilynn attended Indiana State University where she majored in Broadcast
Communications, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ohio Christian University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in substance abuse counseling. Marilynn
currently is a graduate student of Rawlins Seminary at Liberty University with an
emphasis in Health Care Chaplaincy.
Marilynn’s prayer is to make a difference in the lives of family’s, women and
children in the community in which she grew up. Marilynn believes in community
as is the Queens motto, community, Better, Stronger Together.
